Week 29

We had a wonderful Christmas. It went by fast, as usual. Gabe got a swing for a present. It came on Christmas Eve. I know he's not here yet, but I wanted him to have this swing. His room's not ready yet, but one day it will be...hopefully before he arrives. : )

Tim and I rode on the bike last Christmas and we wanted to start a new tradition. Unfortunately we weren't able to do it, because it actually snowed on Christmas Eve. Who would have thought...SNOW! Wow, unbelievable...but, this is Texas. The day before it was 66 degrees and the day after was in the 40s.

We did get to ride the following day. I would like to believe Gabe enjoyed himself. He wasn't asleep the entire time. I felt some kicking and moving taking place, but then again, it could be because we stopped to get some grub. Tim and I bundled up and rode about 40 miles total.

Welcome to biking Gabe!

Week 28, 5 Days

Well, I passed my 3 hour test. I took it during week 27. I didn't get a choice on what flavor drink I could have. I had to swallow the orange drink most people think of as nasty. To be honest, it still wasn't bad. I drank it just as fast as the fruit punch. Tim says I'll eat/drink anything, so you can't take my opinion on food.
We had our 4D sonogram today. We were both so excited to see our boy. I had something sweet to eat and drink before the appointment. I thought for sure Gabe would be active, since every time I've eaten oranges or sugary foods, he kicks up a storm. Nope, that boy was asleep and even yawned a few times. He must have been dreaming about something good, because there was a time when he was smirking. I even tried saying, "bacon", because it worked the last time : ), but still...nothing. Maybe it's a sign he'll sleep well for us when he's born. With having tile nearly throughout the house, voices carry, and the boys like to slam doors around the house.

Week 27

Last week, I failed my 1 hour glucose test. : (
It wasn't my fault. No one told me I couldn't eat. Gabe is so used to me eating/snacking on a certain schedule, that he wanted something before my appointment. How was I supposed to know a few mini cheese Ritz crackers was going to doom me? Don't judge...I've never been pregnant before. Besides, in my defense, one of my books, says for a 1 hour glucose test, I didn't have to fast.

The nurse called me the day after to tell me my numbers were exceeding the acceptable amount and that I needed to take the dreaded 3 hour glucose test. I was floored. After talking to other mothers around school, they all told me..."You can't eat before your appointment. Didn't they tell you?" Of course my response, "No." Like I said, I've never done this before. I was focused on keeping the nasty stuff down. On a side note: It wasn't that bad. I drank 5 oz. of fruit punch in less than a minute. The nurse told me I had 5 minutes to finish it, but I didn't need that much time. Tim said, "I see we're a little thirsty." I blame it on the crackers. ; )

The nurse told me I have to allot myself 4 hours to take a 3 hour glucose test. Naturally I panicked. I can't afford to take time away from school to do a 3 hour glucose test. I need all my days for maternity leave. She says I have to take this test at a LabCorp location. I can't take the test at the doctor's office. After I tell her my dilemma, she says some locations are opened on Saturday. My instructions were to watch my carbs and sugar intake for 3 days and not to eat/drink anything 8 hours prior to my glucose test. Most importantly, I didn't need to make an appointment, because I was in the LabCorp system. I get myself all ready for this past Saturday and make my way to a LabCorp location near the house. When I couldn't find the location, I called to ask about the test. Turns out, they don't do the 3 hour test on Saturday. I was so upset. I "dieted" for nothing. : (
